Slowly but surely, we have been making our house a home, and there is this one spot that has just been constantly bugging me. Whenever I looked at it, it just brought bad vibes, so a change was in order. And, having a week off of work helped bring about that change!
After finding some pallets on the side of the road (which also means free!), Chris helped me take them apart - which was a little tough but not too hard. All it took was a little acrylic paint and a few nails, and the bad vibes have been replaced! Here's a little sneak preview...
To hang it, I nailed in picture hangers at the top of the each 26" piece like so.
Now, on to make a pumpkin for our front door! More on that later...

I just used cream acrylic paint to paint the words, and honestly, finding the right quote was the hardest part! I looked on the website www.primitivesbykathy.com which has tons of signs with fun sayings and decided on this one. I literally had to repeat it to myself a million times to make sure I got the wording right! Chris and I went to Lowe's and bought a 1x3 board and had them cut it into 26" pieces for the back.
*By the way, we actually went there once and had them cut it in 30" pieces only to come home and find that they were too long, so measure first, don't just think you know. lesson learned.

And, done!
Even Charley likes it! And it honestly cost less than $5. No, I'm not kidding. It's actually quite heavy, so Chris helped my center and hang it above our vintage ($10) trunk. I'm obviously all about bargains! Add some baby pumpkins and light some candles, and fall has arrived! Here's a couple of pictures...I'm pretty proud of it, if you can't tell!
